As a 2020 Women of Inspiration 2020 Award Alum (Vision Builder), I am honored to nominate the Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, P.C., C.M., O.Ont., C.B.E. for the Women of Inspiration™ Lifetime of Achievement Award for 2022. Her work as a trailblazer, role model, and advocate for women is remarkable; her life-long commitment to public service has long been an inspiration to me.

She made history as the first Black Canadian woman to serve as a federal Minister of the Crown and Member of Parliament, serving four consecutive terms from 1993-2006. Along with her frontline involvement through the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, she continues providing her expertise to support the empowerment of girls and women, diversity, civic participation, and economic empowerment.
