Gilead Sciences - HR Leader

Shelly is an HR Leader at Gilead Sciences who has led Gilead Sciences through the opening of its site in Raleigh, NC, She instills and implements Diversity and Inclusion principles and practices, voluntary efforts and initiatives, coaching, aspiration, inspiration, and leadership development into the site. Shelly is an HR leader who has also achieved much success along her educational journey. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from NC State University, an MBA in HR Management from Strayer University and she just obtained a Master's in Legal Studies from Arizona State University with concentrations in Employment Law & HR, Criminal Law, and Business Law, graduating with a 4.10 GPA - all while working full-time at Gilead Sciences and volunteering. Shelly has built external relationships with community partners (i.e., SAS, American Red Cross, NCWorks, WakeTech, Raleigh Chamber, Kay Yow Cancer Fund, American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, etc. - just to name a few), cultivating partnerships, volunteerism, and making an impact. She continues to bring this to others in Gilead Sciences and the community, encouraging leaders, employees and individuals to be their best while also doing her full-time job in HR (as a one-person team/leader). In the past year, Shelly has accomplished so much professionally, in the local community, and at Gilead. There's so much success to celebrate and more to come in 2023.

Shelly has volunteered and led initiatives at community colleges and universities (ex. NC State, Shaw University, Wake Tech, etc.). She has volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross and partnered with Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the American Cancer Society to lead several Breast Cancer Awareness walks throughout the year. Shelly also created a 30-day health and wellness challenge at Gilead Sciences so employees can kick-start their year off engaged and on a healthy path. She has also implemented many diversity and inclusion initiatives in Raleigh, including ERG's, monthly topics of discussion, roundtables, and events. Shelly also partnered with SAS on World Aids Day to bring awareness to our community and discuss the cause. She continues to be active in our community, building partnerships and bringing awareness to specific causes that fight racial injustice, and those that build a healthier, united society.

Shelly's educational accomplishments are inspirational. She has her SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications and as mentioned previously, she has a Bachelor of Science degree from NC State University, an MBA in HR Management from Strayer University and she just obtained a Master's in Legal Studies from Arizona State University, with concentrations (Employment Law & HR, Criminal Law, and Business Law), graduating with a 4.10 GPA.

Shelly's other achievements include a recent award from Arizona State University, acknowledging her for her high achievement. She was honored at an awards dinner for her GPA and outstanding accomplishment in law.

She's an aspiration and a great example of exceptional leadership.
