Meet UWN National Ambassador Rhonda Goldberg – Founder, Oh! Naturals Flavoured Snacks Inc. | 2019 Women of Inspiration Inspire Award

UWN: Every woman has a story. Tell us about your story!

RG: Do what you love and love what you do”.  Rhonda Goldberg is the founder of Oh! Naturals Flavoured Snacks Inc.– specializing in Banana chips and Sweet Potatoes snacks. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, she is a branding expert who helps companies craft their brands and turning their visions into reality.  All brands start with a story, says Rhonda, and her job is to help tell them.

Rhonda hit a turning point in her life when she lost her father over 13 years ago suddenly on the day of his Birthday. She came to realize that we need to celebrate our life every day as we never know when it will be our last. “Time” is a commodity that we have but, it can be the most expensive commodity if it is not spent wisely on the things that make us happy in life. This led her to focus the rest of her time to helping make a difference for businesses and product creators worldwide.

Over the years, she has pioneered many companies’ brands to market, and in the past 5 years, she decided to create her own product to give lend credence to what she does for others. To this end, she developed a Fruit and vegetable snack company called Oh! Naturals!  She saw the need for a healthy, vegan, and naturally healthy snack food in the Canadian market, and within 24 months Oh! Naturals flavoured banana chips and flavoured Sweet Potato fries can be found in major national and international retail locations across Canada. In 2019 Oh! Naturals expanded their snacks internationally.  As a result of her successes, she has the honour of sitting on the board on the Health Advisory board at SAIT to help guide students towards a healthy future.

A big believer in not having to re-invent the wheel, Rhonda emphasizes looking at existing markets and simply offering a better and unique solution. It comes down to serving as many people as possible in the best possible way. So, ultimately making a difference in people’s lives from both a business and customer perspective is what drives Rhonda forward. Regardless of where we are in life or business, she believes we all have three main things in common: we all want to be loved, appreciated and respected.

UWN: Are you finding inspiration in stories of courage, bravery, perseverance to support you through this time?

RG: There are many people that are willing to offer a hand. I think we have more time to reflect on priorities and what is important in life.  Through this journey finding the right partners to not support you is the difference between success and failure.

UWN: How does it feel to be acknowledged as a Women of Inspiration?

RG: It feels like a community of belonging. It boosts the confidence and the drive to do even more to make a difference and then to pay it forward to other women who help to make an impact.

UWN: We are honoured to have you part of our journey. Why did you make the decision to become a National Ambassador?

RG: I have connections that might be interested to support. I also feel that is important to play a role on what I truly beleive which is helping further business that wants to make an impact. We cannot fight a journey alone. We must do it together

UWN: Why is recognizing women in leadership roles critical? Why now more than ever should we recognize the achievements of leaders at all levels, including the unsung heroes.

RG: Our world is experiencing many shifts on all levels. I believe as a woman we must conquer together to ensure that we all rise to a level that can create a wave of change. Various cultures do not respect woman in leadership roles and in today’s society we must enforce equality and respect for one another across the globe.

UWN: How has your adversity, and journey prepared you to lead through a crisis? What is one thing that you swear by that has helped you when faced with uncertainty or a challenge?

RG: Making sure my communication is open with the people who are close to me in my life. I focus on the positive and try and look at what I will learn from this experience.

UWN: Has this time of PAUSE given you time to gain a new perspective? What are some of the realizations you have made?

RG: We are all in this together and must help each other out one person at a time. We need to be grateful for what we have and to share the love with each other to insure no-one is alone in this journey

UWN: How has the Global Pandemic affected you personally and professionally? Tell us how this has changed, motivated or inspired you?

RG: I believe the crisis will change all of us hopefully for the better. It will allow us to set our priorities right. We are not defined by our jobs or titles; we are in this together. Whether we are a CEO of a business, a doctor, a truck driver, or a cashier, we are all important no matter what we do, and we all play a part in society helping each other.

UWN: What words of inspiration and wisdom would you offer for leaders to through this historical time?

RG: Don’t stop believing in yourself and never give up

UWN: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

RG: I hope to be expanding with Oh! Naturals into various countries might look at new ventures either in the food or other industries in making a difference in society.
