Tell us about your business and why you chose this path?

My grandmother always told us that the most important thing to her was maintaining her independence by living in her own home. As her health and memory worsened, it became harder for her to get to the clinic and her health suffered because of it. I knew there had to be a better way, so I started a mobile medical clinic to bring healthcare to vulnerable populations in and around Calgary. From basic medical assessments to treatments, prescriptions, and mobile lab, mobility and transportation are no longer barriers to accessing primary health care.

My grandmother passed away in June 2018 and her legacy lives on in my work and my vision to create a world where every Canadian has easy access to high quality healthcare regardless of age, mobility level, mental health status, and cognition. In this world, seniors and people with disabilities will have the freedom and resources available to support them to live independently in the community for as long as they desire.

What support did you need to get started and keep the dream alive?

I am very appreciative of the support I received from my husband, Chris. He gave me the courage to step outside of my comfort zone and pursue my passion and continues to inspire me every day. I am also grateful for the support and collaboration with other organizations around Calgary, such as members of Calgary Mobile Wellness Services and the Alzheimer Society of Calgary. Together, we are improving the lives of thousands of Calgarians.

How do you create work-life balance in your world? Is there such a thing?

My work-life balance is a work in progress. As the brilliant Brianna West once said, “True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.” You’ll often see me multitasking so that I will have more time later in the day or maybe even the next day to do something for myself or to spend quality time with my loved ones.

What do you think it takes to be a successful entrepreneur or business person?

Successful entrepreneurs and business people have a clear understanding of where they are today and a clear vision of where they want to go. They are insightful about their own strengths and challenges and work well with others. Most importantly, they are constantly learning and growing to be the best they can be.

What is your life motto?

“Why not?”
Too often do people need to be convinced to try new things or to pursue the unexpected. I prefer to approach life with a thirst for new opportunities and experiences. Instead of asking, “Why”, I say, “Why not?” It has allowed me to create a life full of excitement, adventures, and growth.

Tell us about a challenge that you have faced in your own life that has influenced who you are today!

My grandmother greatly valued her level of independence, which became challenging to maintain as she aged and developed dementia. Our family did everything we could at the time to support her to stay in her own home, but it wasn’t enough. Watching my grandmother lose her independence and identity as a result of Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the most painful experiences in my life, but without this experience, I would not have the passion and drive that I have today. The services my company provides is driven by the lack of services available to my grandmother and my family when she was living in her home.

Who has influenced or inspired you and why?

Simon Sinek has a huge influence on my life in regards to the way I speak and understand the world. Reading his books and watching him speak has allowed me to become more articulate about why I do what I do. He has also grown my passion and given me the courage to make a positive impact in my community.

Who is a Woman of Inspiration to you? Why?

Mother Teresa has always been one of the greatest inspirations to me, as she dedicated her life to care for the most vulnerable populations and created a well-recognized charity dedicated to humanitarian work. It takes a lot of courage to create a wave of lasting change and through her struggles, she improved the lives of many people.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
