Tell us about your business and why you chose this path?
I'm in the real estate biz, I LOVE it! I have always wanted to help people have the PRIDE of ownership. Both from finding the perfect step up from renting to helping with the finance. It brings me great joy to see people move into their next phase.
What support did you need to get started and keep the dream alive?
In the beginning I started as an assistant to 3 sales people and fell in love with the fast pace of our industry. Now that I have been in this industry for 20+ years I get great joy in teaching the trade to new sales people with the same fire and passion as I have... it's what keeps me going.
How do you create work-life balance in your world? Is there such a thing?
I believe "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger!" This industry can be tough on you.. long hours.. weekends... but I believe that the quality of the time you spend is more important than the hours spent distracted. I have always believed that unplugging and spending one on one time with the people you care about is the golden rule.... your family and friends will remember the time spent with them when your gone... not what you bought them.
What do you think it takes to be a successful entrepreneur or business person?
I think to be successful entrepreneur you must have balance.. be humble but not weak, strong but not fed by ego, and having drive but understanding that patience is also key to building lasting relationships. It takes all types of support to be successful and kindness goes a long way to building this strong foundation.
What is your life motto?
run like your ass is on fire.... then take time to be good to yourself.
Tell us about a challenge that you have faced in your own life that has influenced who you are today!
As a two time cancer patient, I have come to understand that you only have one life to live, live it full...as if everyday could be the last... forgive, love, laugh and build great memories.
Who has influenced or inspired you and why?
my 93 yr old grandmother is my inspiration, she is the epitome of strength.... she always knows what to say just when you "NEED" to hear it, even if you don't want to.
Who is a Woman of Inspiration to you? Why?
There are many women of inspiration... the single mom working two jobs to put food on the table....inspires me to remember what's important ... the women seated at the boardroom table full of men...holding her own...the great grandmother passing wisdom down to the next generation from a place of "been there done that"...
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself in the same place, mentoring, speaking and supporting others and just living this great life.
What attracted you to The Nest?
Monica.... and her strength to build a HUGE missing segment ... and a place to be real
