Kara Kennish is a third generation Tim Hortons Franchisee. She is committed to finding ways to utilize her platform as a Tim’s owner for the good of her community by advancing the conversation of equal opportunity and shine light on emerging needs in her community locally and internationally. Kara is an ambassador for the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps leading the annual fundraising efforts that affords children and youth from disadvantaged circumstances to experience a leadership development multi-year, camp-based program empowering them to change their stories for the better. In 2020 her restaurant joined forces with Empowerment Squared and together they raised the second highest Smile Cookie sales across Canada. Locally, E2 supports newcomer and marginalized youth to access post-secondary education and start their new lives in Canada. In Africa, she helps build the Liberian Learning Center, an innovation hub that will house the first public library in the entire country aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2020 Kara also represented Tim Hortons in the ‘Barbie Dream Gap’ and ‘One-of-a-kind Barbie’ campaigns where she had the opportunity to share her hockey story with young women across Canada as she had played competitive hockey in her youth and attained four national medals in Judo. She has partnered with the Grindstone Awards Foundation to help build their ambassador program in an effort to provide girls with grants to continue their hockey career.
