Sonya Shorey, Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Communications for Invest Ottawa, Bayview Yards and Area X.O, is an executive with 22 years of leadership experience in technology, entrepreneurship, economic development, and innovation. Since 2005, she has led or significantly contributed to public-private proposals garnering $193+M.
Sonya launched her career with a Vice-Presidential Cabinet at Nortel from 1999 to 2002, and then served as the Director of Marketing Communications for CMC Microsystems. She established her own strategy company in 2008, serving Canadian and global technology organizations. Sonya’s current leadership role includes:
· Helping to create and lead Area X.O, an R&D complex for next-generation smart mobility, connectivity, and autonomy; and the first Pan-Ontario Scale-Up Platform to accelerate the growth of more $100M tech companies in Canada ·
