25 Days to Women of Inspiration™ – Where it all began!

We are now only 25 days away from celebrating Women of Inspiration™ who lead, inspire, and motivate! In the days leading to our Awards, I am usually out of sight in production mode putting together the production and getting ready for the “baby” to arrive after almost a year of nurturing, marketing, planning, preparing, producing, and finally executing. I am often asked about the story of Women of Inspiration and this photo is where it all started.

Standing on this stage on Saturday, September 26, 2015 I honoured one Woman of Inspiration who made an impact in my life. I often say we “dated for 4800 hours, 22 days trial”  all the way to Supreme Court. She was my family lawyer. The whole of the story and impact that it had on Case Law is a book or series of books at the very least.  During this time my core strength was tested and knew I was being tested for a bigger reason. When I saw the light at the end of my legal battle, I decided to start my company. During this time, I realized my Hercules strength, fearlessness, core, unbridled resilience, and my purpose to advocate for women.

I still remember standing on the stage honouring one woman who made an impact in my life in what I refer to as my Seven-Year Journey. While Ms. Harms addresses the room of 200 women and a handful of men on a Saturday morning to accept the honour of Woman of Inspiration, she shared that she was just doing her job, she wasn’t expecting recognition or fame or the award. It was important to her that she showed up for women who would haven’t had a fair chance in the justice system.

I created Women of Inspiration Awards to honour the legacy of one woman who was the everyday hero. It makes me so proud to see the ripple effect of recognizing women who are using their voice, leading by example, and inspiring other women to step into their greatness.

Looking forward to celebrating with all our 2020 Women of Inspiration™ Nominees. It has been a year of unprecedented change, hardship and humanity. I am reminded today of the “why” it’s so important now more than every to honour, celebrate, recognize the achievements of women!
